Looking for something to do? The Deer Haven Lodge is nearby many great attractions, activities, and areas of interest.  

Activities

Snowmobile Trails
Ashland and Price counties offer miles of groomed trails with a winter season average of 100 inches of snowfall. The combination makes this area a winter playground for snowmobilers. Access to the trail is a breeze as it runs right next to our property.


ATV Trails

Price County offers the ATV enthusiast five recreation areas with additional connecting trails and town roads. 
Most of the trail systems have rustic rest sites available, while others allow direct access to food, lodging and services.
The
Flambeau Trail, Tuscobia State Trail, and Flambeau River State Forest Trail systems all connect offering 160 miles of ATV trail riding. The Pine Line Rail Trail and the Flambeau Trail are open for winter ATVing.
Access to some of these trails also run right next to the Lodge property.                            

                                                                                                                                               
Fishing
There are many lakes and streams near by to get your catch of the day!                           
Butternut Lake is only a few minutes away. It claims to have some of the best fishing in Wisconsin. It is three miles long, the deepest area is 32 feet, with an average depth of 12 feet. Species in the lake are: Muskie, Walleye, Crappie, Perch and Bluegill.                           


The Turtle-Flambeau Flowage offers excellent fishing.  You will find crappie, muskies, and smallmouth bass in these waters.

Canoeing and Kayaking
The Turtle-Flambeau Flowage is truly a water wonderland, offering countless opportunities for swimming, canoeing and kayaking. A 26 mile boat or canoe trip on the north fork of the famous Flambeau River from the Flowage to the city of Park Falls traverses 23 rapids.

Copper Falls
Mellen, WI
Ancient lava flows, deep gorges and spectacular waterfalls make Copper Falls one of Wisconsin's most scenic parks. Stone buildings from the 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) add a special charm. 2,676 acres. Features  picnic area and campsites, concessions, seasonal naturalist programs, lookout tower, shoreline with marked beach area, canoeing, boating, fishing, 1.7 miles of nature trails, 7 miles of hiking trails, 7 miles of off-road bicycle trails, 13.7 miles of cross- country ski trails.

Apostle Islands
The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is a scenic group of 22 islands surrounding the northern tip of Wisconsin's Bayfield Peninsula. Little Sand Bay is Northeast of Bayfield via Hwy 13 and Cty K is an Apostle Island Visitor Facility with a Ranger Station/Visitor Center, a public boat launch, an Industrial Strength dock and breakwater, a swimming beach and picnic area, a campground, and a fishery exhibit.

Marion Park Pavilion

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the architecturally unique Marion Park Pavilion was built during the depression. This octagon-shaped structure, 45 feet high and 90 feet wide, was constructed of virgin hemlock and pine, with a hardwood floor and hundreds of windowpanes.

Smith Rapids Covered Bridge

Built in 1991, this beautiful lattice-work bridge is one of the only two covered bridges remaining in Wisconsin. This bridge is part of Wisconsin's Rustic Road 105. The bridge spans the South Fork of the Flambeau River a popular paddling river. The bridge is adjacent to the Smith Rapids Campground that was designed with equestrians in mind.

Black Bear Capital of the Wisconsin
Glidden, WI
In 1963, the world's largest black bear was shot in Glidden, weighing in at 665 pounds. That bear can be seen on main street in a display case.
